China and Comoros Forge Ahead, Co-writing a New Chapter in Blue Economy Development – Huang Zhaojin, Director of CCDA Overseas Committee, Pays Courtesy Call on H.E. Ambassador Maoulana Charif of Comoros

Beijing, July 28, 2026 – At the invitation of the Embassy of the Union of the Comoros, Mr. Huang Zhaojin, Director of the Overseas Joint Development Working Committee of the China City Development Alliance (hereinafter referred to as "CCDA Overseas Committee"), led a delegation to the Embassy for a working meeting with H.E. Ambassador Maoulana Charif of the Union of the Comoros.

Ambassador Charif, who serves concurrently as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Union of the Comoros to the People's Republic of China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and Thailand, extended a warm welcome to the delegation and underscored the high importance he attaches to this exchange. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions centered on deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation, advancing the establishment of sister-city relationships, and jointly developing international business cooperation centers.

During the talks, Director Huang provided Ambassador Charif with a detailed overview of the CCDA Overseas Committee's two decades of extensive experience in Africa and its notable achievements in promoting Sino-African trade. The two sides focused on the proposal to simultaneously establish "International Cultural, Tourism, and Commercial Cooperation Centers" in Nansha (Guangzhou) and Shapingba (Chongqing), and held practical consultations on specific areas including automobile exports, as well as investment in tourism development and transportation infrastructure in Comoros. Director Huang emphasized that the CCDA Overseas Committee is ready to leverage its platform advantages to help transform Comoros' resource endowments into drivers of development.

Ambassador Charif highly commended the CCDA Overseas Committee's bridging role in fostering Sino-African cooperation. He informed the delegation that he had just returned to China from accompanying the President on an official schedule in the Republic of Korea, during which he had specifically reported to the President on the proposal to establish the cooperation centers, receiving positive feedback. The Ambassador noted that Comoros boasts top-tier aromatic resources, including ylang-ylang, vanilla, and cloves, and expressed his eagerness to visit Guangzhou and Chongqing at the earliest opportunity to utilize the cooperation center platform to introduce Comoros' specialty products to Chinese consumers across the board.

Turning to an upcoming diplomatic highlight, Ambassador Charif conveyed a formal announcement from the Comorian government: To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Comoros, the President of Comoros will pay an official visit to China this coming October. The Ambassador extended a sincere invitation on the spot, stating that arrangements would be made for the leadership of the CCDA Overseas Committee to hold a dedicated meeting with the President during the visit, enabling higher-level alignment and guidance on bilateral cooperation.

Director Huang expressed his gratitude for the Ambassador's trust and pledged that, with the support of the Embassy, he would accelerate substantive work such as the signing and inauguration of the business centers and the establishment of sister-city ties. He aimed to achieve tangible milestones prior to the President's visit, offering them as a tribute to the leaders of both nations.

The meeting concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Both sides agreed to establish a regular working-level coordination mechanism to facilitate concrete actions that will encourage more Chinese enterprises to venture into Africa. Together, they are committed to co-authoring a new chapter in China-Comoros economic and trade cooperation and contributing to the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future.
